Orsam Oil & Gas Limited (OOGL) is proud to announce its near to completion of the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification process which are internationally recognised standards that ensure our services meet the needs of our clients through an effective quality management system.

Our management system is being certified by a reliable partner, Bureau Veritas Oil & Gas Limited (BV), a global leader in testing, inspection and certification. BV helps companies meet the international standards in quality, safety, environmental protection and social responsibility.

Our decision to certify our already internal management system to conform to ISO standards demonstrates OOGL’s commitment to providing a higher-quality and consistent service to our clients and our ongoing investment in technology and development in country.

We kicked off the auditing process with the ABD Day which included serveral workshops where clients, regulators, vendors, and partners attended.  We wish to share the outcome of that day.

WORKSHOP 1: ISO CERTIFICATION & MANAGEMENT

This workshop included the transfer of knowledge on what the ISO certification entails and how it is beneficial to the overall management of our internal quality system. PDCA principals, processes, and performances were presented. As well as suggestions for continued efforts to improve our internal processes.

WORKSHOP 2: GLOBAL WARMING & POLLUTION

Participants received a presentation on what global warming is and the impact human beings have on the recorded pollution levels on the earth. Statistics on water, air, and soil pollution were shared and good practices on how human beings can help prevent the further effects of global warming and pollution.

WORKSHOP 3: ENVIRONMENTAL PREVENTION

OOGL has put into place numerous measures to prevent environmental practice infractions. Our core environmental objects and practices were shared as an awareness exercise and participants were reminded on preventative measures currently in place on site. Some regulator bodies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provided some insight on local regulation limitations and standards. And one of the exercises included performing a noise survey of our operations.

WORKSHOP 4: WELDING TECHNIQUES & QUALITY CONTROL

Welding principals and processes were presented by the Quality department manager, which is our core business. Sample welds done in house were presented to demonstrate good/bad welds and measures that should be taken to ensure they comply with client specifications. How radiography control (NDT tests) are conducted was also shown. There was also a live demonstration of how our state of the art equipment submerged arc welding machine (SAW) and the plasma cutting table operate and are an added value to our operations, by increasing precision and saving time.

WORKSHOP 5: PAINTING TECHNIQUES & QUALITY CONTROL

A video presentation was shown to participants on the principals of sand blasting and painting. The demonstration of which qualified paints and thinner products we use in-house, where they are stored, how we control and log them. In addition, sample data sheets on products were shared to show how to interpret them and ensure they are not expired and meet client specifications. Lastly, we showed participants our emergency spill response procedure and where the painting waste management occurs.
